Fixed Income Trading and Research Analyst
Duties and Responsibilities:
Trade in fixed income financial instruments and debt securities in accordance with portfolio manager/client instructions
Work directly with portfolio managers/clients to achieve their portfolio goals and maintain desired levels of fixed income from instruments
Maintain understanding of relevant factors that impact the price of bonds and money market instruments
Inform portfolio managers and other appropriate persons of relevant information affecting security prices
Maintain contact with brokers to conduct bond and money market instrument trading.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and services of brokers to meet the needs of trading operations
Keep abreast of laws and regulations that affect investments
Provide portfolio analysis as requested by portfolio managers for current and prospective clients
Communicate risks of investments and present ideas on solutions to management
Participate in internal meetings to contribute ideas and recommendations for investments
Analyse market activity and report to management
Provide opinion/advice to management on best course of action to minimize risk of loss and produce the best yield in investments
Conduct relevant quantitative research to supporting national and international fixed income investments
Other responsibilities as may be determined by manager
Degree in related discipline; preferably in accounting, finance or economics
Minimum BSc degree
3 – 5 years’ relevant work experience
MBA and/or CFA in progress
Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain and develop relationships
Ability to present, persuade and inform effectively
Excellent use of MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Extensive use of spreadsheets to analyze and present data
Excellent analytical and decision making skills.
